Total mayhem

I'm a huge fan of The Henry Rollins show on IFC and sat down late last night to watch some of the old musical performances on the IFC website. Good stuff.

Here are a few favorites:

And while I can't claim to be a fan of Placebo (I know nothing about them, actually), they did an amazing cover of Kate Bush's song, Running Up That Hill.


Anyway, there are lots more that thoroughly I enjoyed at the IFC site, but I'd be posting all day long if I listed them all. Good stuff, you should check it out!


My post output will be significantly decreased this week because total mayhem is about to ensue. Shopping today with family (my relatives from Florida are in town for Carly's wedding), Bachmann and Okkervil River Wednesday, rehearsal and the usual day-before-the-wedding stuffs on Thursday, Carly's wedding on Friday night, my birthday Saturday, and Dave and Kate's wedding on Sunday. And because they're getting married at an art museum in the middle of nowhere, we're all staying overnight into Monday. I'm closing the shop on Tuesday of next week because if I don't get a decent day off in here somewhere I'm going to drop dead.

So that's that. I'll be back soon with lots of pictures here and there of the events. I have a few now of Carly's bridal shower from yesterday and of the defunct bachelor party from Saturday night, but I haven't sorted through them yet.

Hope you crazy kids are well. I miss you!

Mmmmm, burritos

Despite the plethora of crises plaguing our country at the moment, apparently THIS is what our local news reporters and our neighbors feel is the important stuff.



People, really, get a life. If your kid is growing up in Troy, Cohoes, Waterford or the Burgh, I've got news for you, they're saying a whole lot worse than "badass". I mean, honestly, the potential next president of the United States refers to his wife by lovingly throwing the the c-word around (I'd like to note that I personally hold nothing against the c-word) and you're worried about your kids asking you to take them out for a Badass Burrito?!?!? The horror.

Please make sure you remember to put down the crack pipe BEFORE washing their mouths out with soap.

Random thing #1:

Random thing #2:
I can hardly stand waiting for this album to come out. I hope it's not a disappointment, but then again he hasn't disappointed me yet. This newest work is supposed to be a reaction to the fans who have been asking Bachmann to return to his older (read: Loaf) roots and put out a peppier, more lively album. I wish they'd leave the poor man alone. I'd like to see a Loaf reunion as much as the next gal, but hey, he's moved on! Only 6 more days until I see him live!!!

Random thing #3:

The Sheep and Wool Festival, also known as the Fiber Festival is coming up on the 18th and 19th, but seeing as how I work on Saturdays I plan on going on the 19th. I'm attempting to put together a bit of a group trip here. Anyone wanna go? I can only promise you yarn like you've never seen before and all the llama, alpaca, and sheep you could ever want to meet. Well, that and a day filled with my sunny personality. Heh. Let me know if you'd like to join me!

Random thing #4:

The new background color on the old blog here is the color I'm considering for our living room when the construction is done. What do you think? It slightly resembles baby poop, but I like it. Opinions?

For Randi...

...who was born and raised here but lives in Florida now and misses the changing leaves terribly.

We're in the beginning stages at this time so there isn't a whole lot to take pictures of yet, just little glimpses here and there. But within the next two weeks we'll be right in the middle of peak season.

So for now, here's what I have. There are a few trees out there in full color, but the rest just have little specks.

My grandfather is in the hospital again. Only this time he wound up there while on vacation in Las Vegas. Keep your fingers crossed because he's one of the most important people in my life and I'd be lost if something happened to him. And more importantly, keep your fingers crossed for my grandmother, the one we worry about most when this happens. Thanks, kids. It's hard on all of us when we can't be by his side.
