Won't fit

Okay, jewelry people, I need to ask you for a bit of help.

Have I ever shown you my wedding ring? When Ben and I were planning our wedding, we ordered these beautiful rings from a jeweler in Poland (Ben's was really cool, too). The rings took FOREVER to be made and then shipped, and when they arrived (two or three days before the wedding), mine didn't fit. So, I went out and bought myself a silver band for the time being. Needless to say, I'm still wearing the plain silver band. That's okay, but I'm so totally in love with this ring and I'd love to wear it as my wedding band. The problem? I need it to be a teeny bit bigger. It's pretty clear from these photos that this ring hasn't been cleaned in ages, but that actually helps me now because you can see where the seam is on the band. Do you know if this can be fixed. I worry about the pearls' settings if the band is opened. Is it even possible? Will my sausage fingers ever bear this thing? I'd rather not admire it from afar.

By the way, I apologize for the poor quality of these photos but it's really dark in my house, and, well it was 9 :30 at night when I took them. The ring is much prettier when the light is a bit better, and the area surrounding the pearls isn't all that dark.

Thanks in advance if you have any advice for me!

that ring is gorgeous!! I bet a jeweler could resize it... seems like you would just need to heat it a little and stretch the back out a little bit. It might make the back a little thinner but I don't see why it couldn't be done. (I know nothing about metal smithing though)

Thanks, LK! I thought so too, but I just worry that any adjustment might loosen the setting around the pearls. Guess I'll find out! I'm dying to wear it!

Hi Kate There was A man here in Kissimmee who would re_do Rings... he would take old gold or silver and add or take away from a piece. there should be someone in troy who does this..maybe with your band that you wear now, combine the two????? If you can"t find someone there I'll try to find "the man" here..Love you Nancy

All of my knowledge of metal working comes from a semester long class at The Arts Center so I'm no expert but I don't see any reason why you wouldn't be able to get the ring sized. The settings for the pearls look forgiving enough, especially since you only need it to be a little bit bigger.

And can I just say that that ring is amazing!

Your ring is gorgeous! Take it to a jeweler and have it re-sized. After my grandma passed away, I had her class ring re-sized for my mother at a local jeweler. It only cost me about 20$. The ring was initially a size 6, but my mother needed an 8. They did a great job...it didn't affect the ring negatively at all, and they also cleaned it and made it all pretty and new looking again. :)

that is fantastic! I'm sure a qualified jeweler could adjust it safely.
so great - I'd love to see Ben's too!

I think it must be "do-able".
Some skilled craftsman must have the talent needed to make a bride happy!
