opinions, please

So, when Miss Lola was just a teeny little baby and I was new to the job of babysitting, I'd sing her to sleep when she was overtired or simply wasn't willing to go down for the night. Her favorite song, or at least the one good standby I had that worked, was "Fortunately Gone" by The Breeders. She's much older now and is interested in music and singing songs and I'd love to teach it to her. I'm wondering, though, if it's a bit too weird or "dark" for a little girl to know and celebrate. Here are the lyrics:

I wait for you in heaven
On this perfect string of love
And drink your soup of magpies in a
Pottery bowl that looks
As I am now, brown, round and warm

Chime on a rain wet
An ankle, toes or two
Sweetly as it drops upon your head
Just like it did today
Fortunately gone I wait for you

Chime on a rain wet
An ankle, toes or two
Sweetly as it drops upon your head
Just like it did today
Fortunately gone I wait for you

It's such a pretty song and the way Kim Deal sings it makes it sound so pretty and cheerful. Certainly not a children's song though. What do you think? Please vote (in the left hand column) and let me know what you think. Comments are more than welcome!

Gracias!

It's awesome. My kid cut his teeth on everything- so eclectic. Last summer he was insane over Dylan. He is five and can sing Sub Homesick blues. It's badass. Music is like books- no banning! Freedom. Explore- yr gifting her! xoxoo

Remember the song i used to sing that my Grandmother Keefe used to sing to us? Poor Little Joe? What a terrible "lullibye" that was! hahaha

I remind you that one of the best-known lullabies of all time involves an infant falling from a broken tree branch.
And are the Wiggles any less creepy?
I'm all for it.
My mom used to sing me Leonard Cohen. Only thing it did "to me" was give me a lasting appreciation of beautiful music. She'll outgrow Raffi and Sharon, Lois & Bram, but she won't outgrow that. You'll be giving her a soothing melody and memory to carry into adulthood. We can all use that.
