I currently have the "keep the kids busy while Mom shops" table in the small window ledge at the front of the shop. It's seldomly used, but it holds all sorts of art supplies like crayons, markers, stickers and small toys. The fact that it's rarely used makes me think that the space is being wasted. I'm contemplating putting my sewing area in that window so that people can watch the sewing process as they pass by on the street. What do you think about this? Do you think it's a corny idea, or a decent advertising ploy?
I put up a poll on the right side of the old blog here, and if you're interested in voting, please do. You know I can never make up my own mind.

I love the idea of a kids area, but if it's not being used, it's just wasted space. Try switching it up for a while with your sewing machine set up in there instead. You can always change it back, or to something altogether different later!
I think that the sewing machine idea is a fantastic marketing ploy... really fantastic. DO IT!
I think you should go with your gut. I know people love to watch an artisan at work. BUT-that "keep the kids busy" table just might come in handy once Summer Vacation starts and more children will be coming in to shop with Mom and Dad. So, if you move it out of the window, you could keep it in the back room and pull it out as needed. That way there will be less wasted space!
Being a mom, if I'm determined to shop, I bring my own arsenol of activities and the stroller.
Get rid of the kids corner and put up that sewing nook. I know I'd be drawn in to take a look.
I'm with Jaimee! Let them entertain their dern selves :)
I changed my kids table to an adult and kids table and it gets used much more now.
I like the sewing table idea a lot!
